Warning: Bad photos from my phone!

The very quaint and unpretentious gastropub is situated not far from our beloved outlet shopping paradise, Bicester Village! Rated with 1 Michelin star, we were really excited with the idea of having a good lunch at The Nut Tree, especially after putting in a few hours of serious hard work at the paradise!

We were famished when we finally got there after 2pm! Most of the tables were empty by then. We were seated in the conservatory area. It wasn't raining on that day (phew!!). Enjoyed the sunlight which shone through as it made the whole dining area bright and cheery!

Foie Gras - something extra for the 3 of us to share (because we were really hungry!)

Sherryn's Starter: Pressed and salted brisket of Limousin beef from Murcott with celeriac remoulade

My Starter: Pave of Nut Tree smoked Orkney salmon with whipped horseradish cream, Avruga caviar and a salmon skin biscuit

ST's Starter: Mussels

Sherryn and ST's Main: Crown roasted breast of English free range chicken with potato puree, savoy cabbage and morel sauce

My Main: Risotto of wild mushrooms with Reggiano parmesan and white truffle oil

Sherryn's Dessert: Warm chocolate fondant with peanut butter ice cream

ST's Dessert: Sticky toffee pudding with caramelised apple tart and praline ice cream

My Dessert: Hot passion fruit soufflé with its own sorbet

My only gripe with our lunch affair at The Nut Tree is having to drive quite a distance to get back after a satisfying meal! I was quite ready to hit the sack when our lovely meal ended. Thank goodness I was not the one driving, so I could enjoy a good snooze in the car (while ST undertook the important task to chat with Sherryn to keep her awake)! We had to watch what we drink too. That was a tough one, given that The Nut Tree is a pub afterall...
