With so many dining promotions offered by the credit card companies, we are really spoilt for choices these days! Take Ko japanese restaurant for example. There is a special set menu for UOB cards (1-for-1) and another one for DBS cards (1-for-1 too).

We opted for the DBS set menu in the end. It looked more interesting, and cost more than the other menu too (which is probably due to the better ingredients used). It worked out to be around $75 per pax after discount.

There was only one other table occupied when WL and I arrived at the restaurant. The customers at the other table left pretty early, so we were the only customers till restaurant closing time. Talk about booking the whole restaurant for free... ha!

However, we soon realised why there were so few customers... alright, I exaggerated, it wasn't that bad!

The appertiser didn't quite meet the mark due to the cut of the tuna sashimi. It had a lot of the tough fibrous tissue which was so hard to bite through. I wonder if that was done on purpose and I was just being ignorant?!

The 2nd dish was quite refreshing though. I like the paper-thin roll (similar to vietnamese roll) which goes well with japanese-styled dressing and salmon sashimi.

The 3rd dish was my favourite (probably because of the duck liver!). The duck liver was nicely pan-fried in a sweet, dark sauce and placed on top of the chawanmushi (steamed egg). It's the 1st time I had seen chawanmushi being served in a huge plate (with a deep center) instead of the usual tea-cup. Incidentally, chawanmushi literally means "steamed in a tea-cup" in Japanese!

Our main course was wagyu beef shabu-shabu. However, we were already quite full when we got to this course. No complaints about the beef, though it could be sliced thinner.

Close-up shot. What is the grade of this wagyu beef? I'm no expert...

The dessert was as plain as it looked here: fruits + green tea ice cream + red beans. Well it was decent, but boring. Fortunately, we were both so stuffed at this point that we didn't really care much for dessert!

Food aside, I wasn't very impressed with the service too. They served us the next course before we were done with one (and that happened a few times!). It felt like they were rushing us to finish our food and leave earlier. I don't know about WL, but I definitely won't be back any time soon to try their UOB menu! :P
